Pope John XXIII Medical-Moral Research and Education Center chartered with the assistance of The Catholic Hospital Association and His Eminence John Cardinal Carberry
First publication of Ethics and Medics
Our first book was published: An Ethical Evaluation of Fetal Experimentation
Pope John Center begins an annual medical-moral workshop in Dallas, Texas for bishops.
The Center began to host seminars for health care professionals on bioethical topics across the USA.
The Center published an edited multi-author book Sex and Gender, A Theological and Scientific Inquiry. The Center published Theologies of the Body: Humanist and Christian.
The Center relocated its national office from St. Louis, Missouri to Boston.
The Center relocated its offices to the campus of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston.
The Center changed its name to The National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC).
We published The Right to Privacy by Dr. Janet E. Smith in collaboration with Ignatius Press.
The NCBC founded an academic journal, The National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly (NCBQ).
The NCBC moved its offices to Philadelphia.
We initiated our National Catholic Certification Program in Health Care Ethics.
We have now had over 1,000 graduates.
Father Tad Pacholczyk started publishing a monthly column entitled “Making Sense of Bioethics.”
The NCBC launched its Bioethics Public Policy Report with Dr. Marie Hilliard.
The NCBC began offering Nursing Continuing Education credits.
The NCBC made Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits available.
We published On Conscience by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger in collaboration with Ignatius Press.
The NCBC created its first online chaplain education program.
The Catholic Medical Association created its annual “Boot Camp” summer program.
Medical students and NCBC ethicists have helped to teach students every year since.
We began our Catholic Identity and Ethics Review (CIER) program.
The NCBC launched our “Bioethics on Air” podcast and have now surpassed 110,000 downloads.
The NCBC responded to over 2,000 individual ethics consultation requests in a single year.
We helped found the Catholic Health Care Leadership Alliance.
We created a new Personal Consultations Department led by Dr. John Di Camillo.
